Ahold Delhaizes Internal Audit team is future-oriented and has a strong focus on strategy. As Senior Internal Auditor, you will lead audits for our European retail brands across different business processes (e.g. marketing, commerce, logistics, real estate, supply chain, IT) to investigate if the operational processes support the strategic objectives. Youll act as a trusted advisor for your stakeholders, while remaining objective in your assessment of the control framework. Based on your observations, you provide tailor-made recommendations for improvement.

Your new work environment
You will be joining the Global Internal Audit team, consisting of 40 colleagues. Your direct team consists of 6 colleagues. Our goal is rather straightforward: we perform audits across Ahold Delhaizes Global Office and the European brands. The impact on the organization is tangible: we act as the third line of defense, performing approximately 70 engagements globally per year driving innovation and change in different domains of the company. Our Internal Audit team is filled with smart, high-performing finance professionals who enjoy pioneering and taking ownership of their work.

This is what youll be doing
As Senior Internal Auditor, you will have a unique opportunity to see and understand many different areas of our company. You will have a senior role within a multidisciplinary team with different backgrounds (audit and non-audit). Together with the team you are responsible for analyzing and assessing risk management within a business unit. Subsequently, you share the observations with management in order to define next steps together. Every audit is unique, as you will work within different European and Global brands, in changing audit teams. Youll be auditing a large variety of processes, from sourcing to logistic, but also handle compliance topics and IT General controls.

  • Requirements
    Were looking for a highly motivated candidate who has strong analytical skills and is a role model by heart. Youre pragmatic and know how to get things done. You fully understand and take into account the business needs to provide meaningful recommendations.

    Also, you have: 

  • Have a Masters degree, any complimentary certification (RA, CPA, CIA, RE, RO) is a plus
  • At least 5 years of working experience. Experience within Audit at a Big Four company is a plus, but not required. 
  • Experience with complex multi-functional programs and projects is a must-have, experience with operational audits is nice to have. 
  • The ability to communicate fluently in English. Ability to speak Dutch, French, Greek, Serbian, Czech or Romanian is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, broad interests and intrinsic curiosity
  • Have strong communication and collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams to help drive internal and external engagement around sustainability. 
  • Are a true sparring partner to senior management, but are at the same time unafraid of pushing back when necessary and relevant. 
  • This role requires travel within Europe, up to 15% of the time.
