Help shape the
technology behind one of the Netherlands’ most trusted brands. With
more than 1300 stores, opening new locations, closing existing
ones, and remodeling stores is a complex process. It requires
strict planning, coordination, and teamwork across multiple
departments. The Store Opening Execution and Support team (SOES)
coordinates all IT-related tasks to ensure stores are fully
operational from day one. As a member of SOES, you’ll have the
chance to automate and optimize the store opening
process.
How you’ll make an impact as a Backend
Engineer
- Understand the complexity of the IT
landscape that supports our stores and ensure everything works
flawlessly from day one. - Be ready to jump into operational mode
when needed. - Continuously improve supporting IT
systems and processes. - Build APIs and
microservices. - Design and implement integrations with existing
systems. - Work with ServiceNow components like SPM,
Sandbox, and MidServer.
Your new team and
office.
Together with
your team and supported by experts on backend development, you will
work on inspiring projects to accelerate our transition into a
hybrid Food & Tech company. We want to leverage data and
technology to future-proof food shopping and give our customers
accessibility to healthy food more easily available for everyone.
At Albert Heijn, you team up with inspiring peers in the data,
digital and tech domains. A community of diverse individuals who
share a common goal; to create digital solutions that make (online)
shopping simpler and more inspiring. Are you ready to reinvent the
way millions of people buy and enjoy their food? We invest heavily
in data, digital and tech. And that includes investing in your
career! Our teams work in a hybrid way: partly from home and partly
in our office, located right next to Zaandam train
station.
We value belonging and
diversity
We believe it’s
important to be part of a high-belonging team. A team where you can
be yourself and feel safe, accepted, and appreciated. For this
role, we’re especially looking for someone who brings diversity to
the team. Don’t tick all the boxes? No problem, we probably don’t
either . If you’re up for the challenge, we’d
love to see your resume!
What you’ll need for maximum
impact
- 3+ years of
experience with key technologies: Spring Boot, Java/Kotlin, GitHub
Actions, Kubernetes, Postgres, Kafka, and Azure
Cloud. - CI/CD expertise: Confident working with
continuous integration and deployment, including test automation
and release engineering. - Solid grasp of best
practices: You understand clean code, security, test automation,
and cloud concepts. - Excellent fluent
communication skills in English and
Dutch. - Business-to-technical
translation: Able to turn business needs into technical solutions
and collaborate closely with
stakeholders. - Experience with iterative
development: Comfortable working in cycles and adapting as you
go. - Continuous improvement mindset: You spot
opportunities for improvement and help shape the technical
roadmap
What we
offer
- An annual salary of up to €75k (including
holiday allowance & bonus), depending on your seniority based

paid leave to enjoy your well-deserved holidays: 25,5 regular
vacation days and 19,5 ADV days. Enjoy! - Flexible working
hours. - Access to a challenging training

policies. - 10% staff discount on groceries in all
Albert Heijn stores, up to a maximum of €300 per

reinventors.

Flanders? Check. The leading online food retail platform? Check, we
build, run and
love
it.
